A Wooden Spoon – The Kitchen Witch’s Wand

A wooden spoon is a kitchen witch’s wand. The wood helps to channel your energy into whatever you are creating and is just a great tool to have in your kitchen – witchy or not.

I love to use a wooden spoon whenever possible.

There is something about the connection to nature and to what you are creating in the kitchen when using wooden utensils.

What Is A Kitchen Witch?

There are many different types of witchcraft and even more labels that can be used to describe what type of witch one might be.

A kitchen witch, as the name implies, is someone who does the majority of their spell work in the kitchen.

There are many different names for a witch who focuses primarily on cooking, or their home, for their craft – hedge witch or hearth witch come to mind first. Even a green witch can be a kitchen witch. A kitchen witch may grow their own food in the garden, but that is by no means a requirement.

That being said, labels only help when describing things to someone else and by no means should feel restrictive or limiting to your practice. I know many witches who use many labels to define themselves. You can give yourself as many labels as you desire – never feel the pressure to fit into a limiting box.

One can brew up a stew, a soup, an herbal concoction, or whatever else one might fancy and can infuse that dish with their energy and magical intention.

There is no line between cooking and magic.

Cooking is a magical practice. Understanding your personal power and the power of intention will make your cooking even more fabulous on a whole other level.

A Wooden Spoon

There is something so special about a wooden spoon.

They are sturdy enough to stir the thickest of batters but also so gentle on your cookware and perfect for even the most delicate preparations.

The size and shape of wooden spoons varies, as does material. You can find the perfect spoon for you, just like a wand. Each user will have different preferences and that’s ok!

Allow yourself to connect with and feel the wooden spoon as you work.

Have you ever thought about the tools that you are working with in your kitchen? There is something so wonderful about a wooden spoon.

The tree that gave its life for that spoon could have been hundreds of years old. Perhaps it knew your ancestors. It has ingrained knowledge that we cannot even begin to understand. It has witnessed so much.

Wooden spoons also have a long history themselves. They have been around a lot longer than the synthetic material utensils found in so many kitchens today and will probably outlive many of those as well.

Nearly all cultures have used wooden spoons – there have even been some found in the tombs of ancient Egypt.

It is a tried and true tool for so many – from professional chefs to the kitchen witch who is just learning to cook by banging a spoon on their parents pots and pans.
