Sandwich Buns

These delicious buns are great for sandwiches and even hamburgers! This recipe makes 8 large buns or 12 medium sized buns.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp milk

Instructions
 

  • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in bowl of stand mixer and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Add egg, oil, flour, and salt. Knead with dough hook, on low, for 5-6 minutes until soft and slightly sticky.
  • Form dough into a ball and place in an oiled bowl. Let rest for an hour or until doubled in size.
  • On a floured surface, shape into a rectangle and then cut into 8-12 pieces. Shape into balls and then flatten into disks and place on parchment lined baking tray. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Gently brush the tops of the buns with milk (non dairy works fine - or you can use an egg wash).
  • Bake at 375 for 15-17 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Enjoy!
