Cuisine Italian
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 4 tsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb all purpose flour
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp milk
Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in bowl of stand mixer and let sit for 10 minutes.
Add egg, oil, flour, and salt. Knead with dough hook, on low, for 5-6 minutes until soft and slightly sticky.
Form dough into a ball and place in an oiled bowl. Let rest for an hour or until doubled in size.
On a floured surface, shape into a rectangle and then cut into 8-12 pieces. Shape into balls and then flatten into disks and place on parchment lined baking tray. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Gently brush the tops of the buns with milk (non dairy works fine - or you can use an egg wash).
Bake at 375 for 15-17 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy!
