Herbal Studies – Always Learning
I am always learning. There is something about allowing yourself to explore your curiosity and discover new things. I have been interested in herbs for a while but recently I have really given attention to my herbal studies.
Do you love to discover new things?
I certainly do.
There was a time in my life, just after university, when I got so burnt out on learning (forced consumption of information). I had forced myself into studies I was less than thrilled about, for many years, and my mind just needed a break.
But now, many moons later, I have rekindled my love for learning – only this time, it is on my own terms. No deadlines, no essays, no pressure.
The Joy Of Books
If lockdown has taught me anything, it has been that time can be squandered so easily. Social media became a tool of distraction and fear, and never left me feeling satisfied with the experience. So instead of giving into the temptation of social media, I went back to books.
I have always loved books. There is something about the act of physically holding and reading a book that I just absolutely love. And, unlike ebooks on my phone or searching the web, a book does not have a built in distraction system.
Over the past few years, I have slowly been collecting books. These books contain numerous topics I have been interested in. I also am a frequent visitor to our local library – luckily, our library has been able to offer curbside pick up for most of the pandemic.
During lockdown, I decided that I wanted to fuel a distraction that would benefit me and not leave me feeling drained like social media was. This distraction was learning about things I enjoyed.
I, recently, have been focusing on herbal studies.
Herbal Studies
Herbal medicine, cooking with herbs, growing herbs, and magical used of herbs has fascinated me for a while. It was something that I found so interesting but never gave myself permission to pursue.
There is something so rewarding about learning new things, taking notes in a beautiful notebook, and indulging in curiosity. In a time when there are so many unknowns, diving into knowledge that has been studied for centuries really feels good.
I hope to be able to share this journey, into herbal studies, with you as I learn and explore new aspects of this fascinating world.
